A North Carolina soldier has been killed in Iraq.

The Army says Sergeant First Class Greg Sutton died Wednesday in Baghdad, when the vehicle he was in was hit by a roadside bomb.

The 38-year-old career soldier was from Spring Lake, North Carolina. Sutton was a fire support specialist assigned to the 212th Military Transition Team, First Brigade, First Infantry Division, at Fort Riley.

He joined the Army in February 1991. Fort Riley officials say this was his first deployment to Iraq.
