Despite the hot and humid weather-- festival goers braved the heat to take part of summerfest at the Washington Waterfront.
Matt Johnson and Laura Eubanks say they enjoyed the festival even if the temperatures reached the 90's.
" It's steaming out here. it's really hot, but, there's a breeze coming off the water. But you always have lemonade." says Johnson.
Grabbing a glass of cold lemonade will definitely help with the heat. Lemonade vendors from Fuquay Varina are just one of dozens which lined the waterfront this year for the festivities.
Folks from all across Eastern Carolina enjoy lots of food, like soft shell crab sandwiches, arts and crafts and thankfully free ice water.
One family from Windsor decided to bring their daughter as a reward.
"Me and my daughter were looking in the newspaper and we saw the advertisement and she did good in school this year so we decided to bring her over here today." says Jermaine Parker from Windsor.
His daugther Qashea, also had a great time. Her favorite part of the festivites she said, was the food.
