It's a party that's typical North Carolina -- a pig pickin', some pecan pie and Dean Smith.
The former North Carolina basketball coach will be among those
celebrating John Edwards' 54th birthday on Sunday. Smith calls
Edwards the best person to lead this country, and he says he likes
Edwards because he's worked on issues that matter such as poverty
and ending the war in Iraq.
Campaign finance records show Smith has already donated the
maximum $4,200 to Edwards' campaign.
The bash is part of his campaign's "Small Change for Big
Change" series of fundraisers geared more for cultivating votes
Entrance to the party at the Best Western University Inn in Chapel Hill is $15.00.
In addition to the party, every person who contributes more than $6.10 to the campaign before Sunday will receive a pecan pie recipe from Edwards' mom, Bobbie. The contribution amount is a play on Edwards' birthday.
