With the summer heat it seems that crime around the East Carolina University campus is also heating up.
Since last week, there have been more than ten break-ins off Summitt, Library, Holly and Meade streets. Students living off campus usually leave the area during the summer break, leaving many of their belongings inside. But E.C.U. officers say, they're not the ones being targeted...It's the ones who are home, leaving doors and windows unlocked.
Officers suggest students register their belongings by having them engraved by the police department.
