National Guardsmen Talk About Integrating Back Into Society

Many of those soldiers are from right here in Eastern Carolina. Soldiers with the 694th maintenance company detachment in Snow Hill in Greene County, were deployed to Iraq for over a year from September 2005 to October 2006. While in the Middle East members of this unit transported supplies via convoys, distributed fuel and repaired vehicles. Adjusting back into daily life outside a war zone was tough for the soldiers we talked to. For many it's the simple things they missed the most during deployment. On solider says on several occasions the convoy he was riding in was attacked by bombs, grenades and enemy fire. Thankfully, no one from the Snow Hill unit was killed during the deployment.
