Brooks and Eckerd drug stores will soon begin disappearing across North Carolina, and the rest of the country.
Rite Aid corporation has completed its 4 billion dollar cash-and-stock deal to buy the two drug store chains. That includes 259 Eckerds in North Carolina and six distribution centers, including an Eckerds' center in Charlotte.
Rite Aid will begin converting all stores, a process that should take close to a year. Rite Aid is the nation's third-largest drugstore chain.
