A ceremony dedicated to the more than two hundred fallen soldiers from Pitt County was capped off by the unveiling of a new monument. The war memorial addition, named the Fallen Soldier Monument will stand in the town common in Greenville. The monument displayed the boots, helmet and rifle symbol. Vietnam Veteran, Gus Keyes says he hopes the piece will help Americans remember the real meaning of memorial day. The fallen soldier monument was funded by the Pitt County Veterans Council.
