The third person who died in a plane crash at a mountaintop airport was identified as the wife of one of the two doctors aboard the aircraft headed from Florida to North Carolina.
59 year old Kathleen Campbell Freeble of Saint Petersburg, Florida, died along with 59 year old, Dr. Charles R. Freeble the third of Saint Petersburg. The pilot was 60 year old, Dr. Freddy A. Camuzzi of Largo, Florida, and he died in the crash.
The single engine Lancair Columbia 400 crashed as it landed Saturday at Mountain Air Country Club and Airport near Burnsville in Yancey County north of Asheville. The plane struck other aircraft parked at the private airstrip and began burning. Three airplanes were destroyed by fire and two others were damaged by debris and heat.
Officials say no one on the ground was injured.
