The beach is usually a great place to spent the Memorial Day Holiday, But many took a tour of the Washington Waterfront, instead.
Boaters cruised the Pamlico River Saturday in Washington under the blue skies Saturday afternoon. As Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, this is also the first time some vacationers have hit the water this spring. Dottie Creech from Tarboro says being on the waterfront is her way of celebrating the three day holiday.
"We got a lot of friends out here and everything. Everybody gets together and we have cookouts and everything and hang out around the waterfront and the waterfront is beautiful." says Creech.
