Union County Faces Mandatory Water Cuts

Union County officials plan to consider mandatory water restrictions next week as the county's wrestles with a serious water shortage.

The county commissioners plan to vote Tuesday at a special meeting on new rules that limit water lawns to no more than two days a week, between dusk and dawn.

On Sunday, the county drew one-point-five million more gallons from a South Carolina plant than it was supposed to use.

Officials say part of the problem is caused by large subdivisions with large lots that have automatic irrigation systems.
