Miller Considering Run For Senate

The third-term Democrat says party leaders have assured him that
Dole will be one of ten targeted Senate seats in the upcoming
election. Despite a difficult year for Republicans, an Elon University poll conducted last month says Dole still has the support of 52 percent of North Carolina voters. Miller also says a Senate seat would allow him to be more involved in more issues facing Congress. The Senate has an equal number of Democrats and Republicans, although two independents usually vote with the Democrats. On Thursday, Miller was one of 140 House Democrats to vote against a war funding measure after leaders stripped a timetable for withdrawal to appease President Bush.
