Lottery Forecast For Next Fiscal Year Now 341 Million Dollars

State lottery officials say the games will bring in about 341 million dollars for education in the next fiscal year.

That's about 107 million dollars less than Governor Mike Easley included in his proposed budget.

Easley budgeted 438 million dollars from the lottery for education programs in his budget for the fiscal year beginning July First. House members have approved a budget that includes 350 million dollars from the lottery.

The Senate has --not-- acted yet.

Easley's figures are based on changes in prize payouts on the instant games that he proposed earlier this year. Lawmakers have --not-- acted on those changes.

Lottery officials had predicted this year's lottery revenue would be 401 million dollars. It's now expected to be 320 million dollars.
