House Speaker Joe Hackney is calling on embattled state Representative Thomas Wright to resign.
Hackney's call came today, nearly a week after state elections
officials asked prosecutors to investigate the New Hanover County
Democrat's campaign finances.
Hackney says he thinks House members feel Wright shouldn't be in
the Legislature and that he feels the same way.
Evidence presented May 15th to the State Board of Elections
showed Wright may have spent more than 240-thousand dollars in
campaign donations on personal expenses. Hackney says House members have been waiting for some explanation of the allegations and none has been forthcoming.
