Flag Planting Ceremony For Armed Services Day

Folks across the East were taking a moment to remember fallen veterans Saturday by placing flags at their gravesites.

Members of Hometown Bethel in Pitt County set out at ten Saturday morning sorting through the names and sites on a list that encompasses most of the cemeteries in the county.

Along their side were members of area boy scout troops.

It was a poignant act for one young scout who had begged for an opportunity to place a flag at his great grandfathers grave marker.

The flag planting started at the Bethel and Pine Lawn cemeteries and then moved out to other sites in the county.

Organizers with Hometown Bethel say it's important to remember our fallen heroes and equally as important to get the young people involved.
