A Navy recruiter in Jacksonville has been charged with sex offenses against a female recruit.
Jacksonville Police say 33-year-old Victor Vann Davis of Holly Ridge had allegedly been inappropriately touching a 24-year-old recruit for sexual gratification at the office on Western Boulevard and in the parking lot. Police say the acts may have been going on for about two months.
On May 10, the female recruit reported the incidents to the recruiting center, which in turn reported the incidents to police. Davis has since been charged with one count of sex offense and one count of sexual battery. Police say Davis threatened the victim not to tell authorities.
Naval authorities are taking action on the case as well. Police say the victim will continue her Navy career. If Davis is convicted of these crimes, he will have to register as a sex offender. He is currently in jail under a $25,000 bond.
