Wildfires along the Florida-Georgia border have burned for a few weeks now and fire crews in that area are stretched thin. Help from other states, including ours, left to assist. The North Carolina Forest Service in Pitt County sent equipment and personnel to fight on the front lines. So far, almost twenty crews from Elizabeth City, New Bern and Greenville are there to help contain the blaze. The N.C. Forest Service plans to send another forty firefighters down to Florida by this weekend. Most crews work on the frontline for 14 days.
