Helping people in need this holiday is mission one for a group of dedicated folks in Jacksonville.

The soup kitchen in Jacksonville is gearing up to serve its 20th annual Thanksgiving feast Thursday. Organizers say up until Tuesday night, they weren't sure how many meals they were actually going to be able to serve. They say Onslow Community Outreach didn't have any donations.

Organizers were fearful they may have to turn people away. But several organizations and donors stopped by with turkey, pies and all the fixings Tuesday night. Due to the economy this year, the outreach group is expecting the largest crowd ever -- more than 600 people.

The Thanksgiving feast will be served from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM Thursday at the facility at the corner of Court and Old Bridge streets.
