Apartment dwellers in the Raleigh-Durham area are paying higher rents.
And it looks like rents will be heading higher because of rising construction and land prices, along with greater demand, as more people move to the area.
The Triangle Apartment Association says rents increased an average of about eight dollars a month, to 780 dollars, in the 12 months ending March 31st.
Analysts say lending costs are up and may push more would-be home owners into rentals as more people move into the area.
Developers are building more apartments, and the region's vacancy rate is at an eight-year low.
