An Eastern Carolina Marine, injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq last week, has now died from his injuries. On April 23, Jonathan Kirk's unit took a hit while in Iraq. The 25 year-old from Belhaven in Beaufort County survived for a week, before he died on Monday. Kirk is a graduate of Northside High School and remembered by principal John Smith, "He was the kind of person who would fight with true bravery for his country." To date 3.352 Americans have died in the Iraq war.
