Local Strawberries Survive Cold Weather And Are Ready For Picking

Farmers in the East had a rough start to the spring, when an Easter freeze put their produce in jeopardy.

Three weeks ago we watched farmers at the Strawberries on 903 Farm protect their tender berries with a covering of ice. Now its sweet success for their efforts.

Since last week, the strawberries picking season has official begun.
Many have come from all over to reap the rewards of the farmer's long four days of below freezing temperatures and early mornings.
