Furniture Brands International will cut about 150 jobs in North Carolina and close three factories here.
The Saint Louis-based company makes furniture brands including Broyhill and Thomasville. Furniture Brands says it will close a manufacturing plant in Thomasville and two plants in Troutman. The three factories together employ about 300 people, and the company says it will transfer roughly half of them to other operations.
Another 100 manufacturing jobs are being cut company-wide, plus 80 executive and administrative positions.
The company estimates the restructuring will provide annual
savings of about 13 million dollars.
