Jet Fuel Tank Left Huge Crater

We got an up close look Tuesday of the impact after a fuel tank from an F15 E Strike Eagle, came off the aircraft and fell near the Blair Farm subdivision in Morehead City. The crater it left behind measures 20 feet wide and 5 feet deep and is still filled with jet fuel. Seymour Johnson Air Force base officials say it was a routine training mission, one of 40 or 50 daily, and nothing like this has ever happened before. The investigation into exactly what happened is expected to last a month.
