Two students at Western Carolina University and a third person face charges in connection with throwing a soda bottle filled with an explosive mixture from a dormitory window.
Authorities say no one was hurt in the incident.
University chancellor John Bardo says he didn't think the three
intended to hurt anyone.
Police said a 20-ounce soda bottle containing a mixture of chemicals such as toilet bowl cleaner and aluminum was tossed out of a window in the 400-bed Leatherwood Hall.
University police chief Tom Johnson said the trio said they were
bored. Police charged 18-year-old Antonio Izzi, 19-year-old Michelle
Hargenrader and 21-year-old Jesse Edwards each with possession of a weapon of mass destruction and four counts of possession of
explosives on school property.
