The parents of a 10-year-old Ozark, Arizona girl who was tasered by police are speaking out.
The incident happened when the mother called police after the girl threw a tantrum and wouldn't listen.
The officer apparently came to her home and tasered the girl after she kicked him in the groin.
The parents have differing views of the officer's actions and whether he should be punished.
The mother, Kelly King, defends the officer's actions and says her daughter has been diagnosed with having a "mood disorder."
"I want to make this clear I'm not calling them over here to handle my problem," King said. "I'm having them come over here to protect my daughter from hurting herself or hurting someone else."
The officer in question has been suspended for seven days with pay. The mayor says the officer acted within department policy when he used his taser, but that the officer neglected to turn on a video recording system that is part of the taser.
The girl's father, Anthony Medlock, says he is angry the officer's camera wasn't activated and doesn't believe the taser should have been used.
"Somebody needs to pay," Medlock said. "Seven days suspended with pay, that ain't nothing. That's not even a slap on the wrist."
The mayor is asking the state police to investigate. The 10-year-old girl remains at a juvenile detention center.

Yes, there is a tremendous difference between a spanking and slapping someone in the face. Oh Bubba, please... 40s, 50s. 60s? So, I guess the friend I have whose body does not produce any Serotonin is just imagining there is a problem. I guess all those bipolar people should just get over it and fly right. And people with Attention Deficit Disorder really can ignore distracting noises that make it impossible to concentrate when reading or trying to listen to important information. They're just pretending they can't focus because it's fun. Right. It's clear that you have all your ducks in a row though. We're all glad life is so easy for you.
well then I guess the parents need to put the poor kid on meds instead of calling the police, and treat her like the poor lil victim that she obviously is. U gotta hava hell of a disorder, or be on some serious drugs to think ur not gonna get a rude awakening if u assault a police officer!
You didn't say bottom - you said face. So, let me get this right, to teach them not to hit or act up, you hit them? So you teach them when they have a problem, they should react, not with their mind, but with their hand to hit. Brilliant. So really you don't want to teach them, you just want them to fear you enough not to do it in front of you. You know, I was just thinking about how very different you and I are, but then it occurred to me, we DO have something in common! My shoe size is the same as your IQ! Mood disorders are a very real medical condition; Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
