Starting Monday the troubled Grimesland bridge will be closed yet again, that means a 23-mile detour.

The road 's been closed off and on since October of last year, as crews move to fully replace the bridge. An accident last October caused big problems, and then a hole appeared in February. Officials say the detour this week will last through Friday.

FYI - DOT Bridge maintenance has assured Pitt Co. Schools that in the event of an emergency, they would make access across the bridge available to emergency personnel.

This should open some eyes, what happens if this raod was closed to a disaster. No way for emergency personel to get across the river except go into Washington or Greenville.

Yay! Can hardly wait for the road to reopen, this detour only adds another 20 mins to the present hour drive to and from work :(
