FIRST ON WITN: Troopers Say 7 People Injured In Jones County Accident

The Highway Patrol says that 7 people were injured in a single vehicle wreck in Jones County Saturday, including children.

Trooper Bryant Kirk says that the wreck happened on NC Highway 58, around 2.4 miles south of Trenton at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Officials say that a Ford truck driven by 29-year-old Eduardo Olvera of Kenly was driving when he went off the road to the right, over corrected, went off the left side of the road, hit a ditch and rolled over once.

Speed was said by trooper Kirk to have been a factor. Trooper Kirk says that Olvera was drinking alcohol in the truck while driving, but was not impaired.

Olvera has been charged with driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, driving after consuming alcohol, and a child restraint violation.

Trooper Kirk says that 2 children, a 2 and 4 year old, were injured. The 4 year old was said to have been sitting in the front seat without a child car seat. Officials say injuries range from minor to serious. Trooper Kirk expects that the injured will be released later this evening.
