A 10-year-old boy is dead after troopers say he got hit by a SUV outside of Goldsboro running to a school bus stop Friday morning.
According to the Highway Patrol, 10-year-old Dakota Medlin was staying at a friend’s house. When he ran to the bus stop Friday morning on Stevens Mill Road, he raced across the street and forgot to look both ways.
The school bus had not yet made it to the stop when the child was struck.
Authorities tell us he was hit by a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 32-year-old Wendy Jones. Medlin was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. PCMH officials say Medlin died Friday afternoon.
Troopers tell us Jones will not be charged because Medlin stepped out in front of her car and there was nothing she could have done.

To: Dar @ 7;48pm. You are not the "original real" Dar and you must have a pitiful life to keeping posting in someone's name. You seem to focus on the driver instead of focusing on both families. May God bless them all.
As the "original real" Dar, I am so glad that they are not charging the driver.
