Onslow County took a beating from the soaking rains, leaving one area with a pretty good sized sink hole.
Torrential rains since Tuesday literally swallowed up half of the roadway and the shoulder on Shell Rock Landing road in the Hubert area.
The Department of Transportation was out on the scene most of the day, trying to fill in the crater left behind.
The wet stuff also made an impact on Highway 24 in Swansboro, where the pounding rains and standing water forced a roadway shoulder and sidewalk to give way, and split apart.
Residents on Daly street in Jacksonville were also doing all they could Thursday to clear 4 feet of water from their neighborhood.
