Carteret County Health Department is offering an H1N1 vaccine clinic Friday to all high-risk groups of residents. The clinic will also serve as a follow up for children less than ten years of age who had their first dose at the clinic on October 16th. Children fewer than ten years of age are recommended to get two doses of the vaccine.

The Clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the health department facility located at 3820 A Bridges Street in Morehead City. Both the nasal spray and shot form of the vaccine will be available. The vaccine is free.

Pitt County Health Department will also hold a swine flu vaccine clinic Saturday. The clinic will be held at the Health Department and runs from 9 a.m. until noon, or while supplies last. No appointment is needed. The clinic is being offered only to the high-risk groups and the vaccine is free.

The Health Department is located in the Pitt County Office Park, just off Old Creek Road.

High-risk groups include:
·Pregnant women
·People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months
·People between 6 months and 24 years of age
·Healthcare and emergency medical personnel
·People ages 25 through 64 years with chronic health conditions or compromised immune systems.

People are encouraged to remember daily health habits that can prevent the spread of the swine flu. Wash your hands with soap often or use hand sanitizer. Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow. Eat well and get adequate rest. If you do have flu symptoms stay home from work or school and do not return until your fever has been gone for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.

They are offering them by making you stand outside the Health Department in the cold for 2 hours. But atleast my nieces finally got theirs after many trys! Their drs office still hasn't gotten any, but I was told by the health dept. offical they gave her dr office 200 shots. They told my sister they haven't gotten any. Its crazy what you have to do to get the H1N1. Both my nieces are under 3 and I was see adults getting it before them, somewhere I think they need to have a priority clinic based on age and medical problems.
