Former Guilford County 911 Dispatcher Indicted In Student's Death

A former Guilford County emergency dispatcher has been indicted in the death of a North Carolina Central University graduate student.

Shannon Elizabeth Crawley is accused of killing Denita Monique Smith, who was found shot to death at the bottom of a stairwell at her Durham apartment complex in January.

Smith's fiance, Greensboro police officer Jermeir Jackson-Stroud, has said Crawley was "stalking" him during the weeks before the shooting. Crawley had worked as a 9-1-1 dispatcher in Guilford County since 2000.
