Highway Patrol Begins Crackdown On Speeders

Memo to the lead-footed in North Carolina: slow down, because the state Highway Patrol will be watching.

Monday marks the beginning of a week-long effort by the patrol to crack down on speeding on interstates and major four-lane highways in North Carolina.

This year, the Governor's Highway Safety Program and local law enforcement agencies across the state will be conducting No Need 2 Speed in conjunction with Operation Slow Down. Troopers will be using motorcycles, Camaros and unmarked patrol vehicles for this campaign.

Authorities will kick off the operation with a news conference at the Hillsborough weigh station at 11am.
