Deputy Injured In Craven County; One Suspect Shot and Killed

The State Bureau of Investigation is searching for clues in a shooting in Craven County, which sent one deputy to the hospital and left another man dead.

It happened in Vanceboro, Saturday, near West Craven High School. The Craven County District Attorney tells the New Bern Sun Journal-- The Sheriff's Department received a call about an altercation. Deputy William Marsh responded and was struck by one of men in the fight. The D.A. says Marsh fired his gun at one of the men, 36 year old, William Wright. He died on the scene. Deputy Marsh was sent to the hospital for his injuries.
