Edwards Reports Raising More Than $14 Million In Early 2007

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards raised more than 14 million dollars in the first quarter of the year. The amount would have set a record except rival Hillary Rodham Clinton raised almost twice as much.

Edwards also raised three-point-three million dollars over
the Internet. Campaign official Jonathan Prince says the Edwards campaign is significantly over its budget for the year. Clinton collected 26 million dollars over the first three months of 2007, and also transferred ten million dollars from her Senate account.

The chief fundraiser for Edwards says the campaign will need
about 35 million dollars to compete in early 2007 primaries
