Democratic presidential prospect John
Edwards reached an Internet fund-raising target of two million
dollars Friday. That comes just one day before campaigns close the
books on first-quarter donations.
Edwards needed two months to reach the one million dollar mark
after launching his second bid for the presidency in December. But
the campaign has taken a surge of donations since last week, when
Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, announced that she was battling an
incurable form of cancer.
The former North Carolina senator sent an e-mail to voters urging supporters to contribute before the end of Saturday,
the end of first-quarter fund-raising.
Campaigns will reveal their fund-raising totals in mid-April.
