AT&T's Cingular To Introduce Mobile Banking With Wachovia And Others

Your cell phone will soon let you do bank transactions at Wachovia. A-T-And-T customers who bank at Charlotte, North Carolina-based Wachovia and three other banks are getting the option of using their cell phones to check account balances, transfer funds between accounts, and pay bills.

The plan from A-T-And-T's Cingular Wireless is the biggest venture of its kind in the U-S, but still shy of the industry's goal of turning cell phones into credit cards.

The service will begin later this year for A-T-And-T cell users who bank at Wachovia, Regions Financial, and SunTrust Banks.

It's available now to BancorpSouth customers. A-T-And-T says it won't charge customers for the service beyond its data usage fees.
