Mooring's mother says she found her daughter dead in a bedroom when she went to pick up her three year old grandson, whom she says was in the house when morning was killed. Police say Mooring actually lives in Norfolk, Virginia. But she and her boyfriend, Jerome Butts had been staying in Plymouth for about a week. Plymouth Police Chief Steve O'Neil says preliminary autopsy results show Delnada Mooring died from blunt force trauma to the head and manual strangulation. Jerome Butts is currently being held in VA on unrelated charges and is awaiting extradition back to NC. Chief O'Neil says Butts is charged with an open count of murder. This charge allows law enforcement to meet with the DA to determine if the final charge should be 1st or 2nd degree murder. Mooring leaves behind two little boys, ages three and one.
