Gaston County police have charged an 18-year-old girl with first-degree murder in the 2002 death of her former boyfriend's father.
District Attorney Locke Bell says Stephanie Poarch, who's now 18, was 13 at the time of the alleged crime. Bell says his office intends to try Poarch as an adult.
Poarch was a former girlfriend of Nathaniel High, who was 15 when he shot his father to death in his bedroom on February 10th, 2002, in the Gaston County town of Dallas. Randall High, a former Gaston County police officer, was head of security at Gaston College at the time of his death.
A jury convicted Nathaniel High of first-degree murder in May 2004. He's now serving a life sentence at the Foothills Correctional Institution in Burke County.
