Scout Officials To Review Policy After Disappearance

Boy Scout officials say they'll conduct a review of policies following the four-day search for Michael Auberry. While Scout leaders did identify one rule that wasn't followed during the weekend camping trip in which the 12-year-old vanished, an administrator says it has nothing to do with the disappearance. John Meeks of the Old North State Council says a review would have occurred anyway. Michael Auberry stayed with one adult as six other Scouts and three Scout leaders embarked on a Saturday morning hike. Leaving a child alone with an adult is prohibited by Scout rules. Both Meeks and law enforcement officials say nothing criminal occurred. Meeks says Scouts hike using a "buddy system," but do not always pair up when together in camp.
