Fight Against Domestic Violence

State domestic violence homicides are on the rise slightly, according to a new study by the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

As of January 1, 2007, seventeen new homicide cases have been related to domestic violence in our state.

Now, those fighting against domestic violence and lawmakers alike are joining forces to toughen domestic violence laws and penalties.

One main concern of advocates is shelter safety, this concern after a woman was shot dead last year inside a shelter in western North Carolina, reportedly by her husband.
