A textile company will open a new plant in Scotland Neck. The town's mayor says Carter and Mayes Incorporated will create at least 115 jobs and invest a million dollars over two years. The company will use the former Scotland Neck Cotton Mills plant, which had been used as a textile facility since 1890. The company will produce raw yarn in Sanford to be knitted, dyed and embroidered at the Scotland Neck plant. The company received a 50-thousand dollar grant for reusing a building from the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center. Carter and Mayes is based in Paden City, West Virginia.
