UNC Board Names New Chancellor Of Elizabeth City State

A former superintendent of the Halifax County schools has been chosen to lead Elizabeth City State University. The University of North Carolina system's Board of Governors approved Willie J- Gilchrist's nomination yesterday. Gilchrist has served as Elizabeth City State's interim chancellor since last September. He replaces Mickey Burnim, who left to become president of Bowie State University in Maryland.
Elizabeth City State has nearly 27-hundred students and is one
of 16 schools in the U-N-C system.
