Two Fugitives Arrested In Traffic Stop

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people after a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation.
A deputy stopped a vehicle around Heritage Lane on NC 48 and noticed that the driver and passenger were very anxious. Officials say the passenger ran from the car while the deputy was writing a ticket.
Deputies soon learned the passenger was Terrell Maurice Benjamin, a fugitive from New York who has been on the run since September 2008. The driver, Theresa Yvette Moody, was wanted in Northampton County for outstanding warrants for worthless checks. Both were arrested.
Moody was turned over to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office. Benjamin is in Halifax County jail where he is awaiting extradition and has a court date set for November 24.
