Fire At Adult Care Home Kills One Injures 21 More

Officials in Davie County say
investigators don't think the fire at an adult care home in
Mocksville overnight was a case of arson.
The fire killed one resident and left 21 others injured. Four
people are hospitalized in critical condition.
Assistant Davie County manager Beth Dirks identified the victim
as George Minor of Mocksville.
Dirks said four unidentified residents are in critical condition
at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem
and 15 others were treated at other hospitals. Their conditions
weren't disclosed.
Two police officers who suffered smoke inhalation were treated
and released overnight.
Officials from local, state and federal agencies were on the
scene.
Dirks says nearly 50 residents were in the home when the fire
struck. Those not requiring treatment were taken to Hilltop
Assisted Living in nearby Davidson County.
