It was a successful fight for tourism officials and others a few years ago to have the start of school pushed back to later in the year. Now, they may have another battle. The later start was intended to help boost tourism and allow families to spend more time together. The Crystal Coast Tourism Authority says the N.C. General Assembly will once again debate the public school start date. It says there have been several bills introduced to start the school as early as August 5th. The tourism authority plans a meeting to keep the current legislation in place. It'll be this Friday at 10 a.m. at the Emerald Isle town hall.
