Another road is set to close in the small fishing village of Sneads Ferry in Onslow County.
There are only 3 roads going into the small town... Highway 172 to the North, 172 to the South and Highway 210.
Two of those roads are set to close. Resident and community council chair, John Ulrich, feels as if he and the other 2,200 residents in the Onslow County town are trapped.
In April, Camp Lejeune will close Highway 172 from Jacksonville to Sneads Ferry to civilians without a base pass. That roadway is a shortcut and timesaver for thousands of citizens.
In October, Highway 210 will close to replace an aging bridge. Ulrick feels these closures will have a huge economic impact on tourism, keeping people from visiting the town.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation says the project to replace the bridge on Highway 210 will start in October and is projected to be complete by May of 2008.
