A Farmville man was not able to survive a head-on collision.
40 year-old Anthony Jerome Cox Jr. of Farmville died at the hospital after the crash on Highway 17, south of Vanceboro in Craven County Tuesday afternoon.
Troopers say 20 year-old Hailey Howell of Vanceboro crossed into Cox's lane, and they collided head-on. A five year-old in Howell's van is in critical condition at the hospital. Investigators say the child wasn't properly secured.

I don't know why everyone keeps talking about her texting. I know for a fact that she wasn't because I had been talking to her while she was waiting at the school for her little girl and she told me that Maaliyah was in the car so she would get up with me later. As far as the child not being restrained properly the man that got Maaliyah out of the car told Hailey's mom that she was in a car seat. Everyone up here should know that you can't beleive everything you hear because there is so many stories going around that theres no way to know what happened unless you were there my prayers are with both families and I know that Hailey is truly sorry to the Cox family and she knows her apology isn't going to fill the gap or make everything better but her heart is full of sorrow for the family of the innocent man that was involved in her freak accident. I am also sorry to your family I know what its like to lose a loved one my prayers and thoughts are with you guys.
