The family of a man missing since 2005 is reacting after lawmen discover a vehicle in the water with a body inside believed to be their loved one.

Deputies believe the body of George Quinn was found in a Jeep Cherokee that was submerged in Gallants Channel in Carteret County.

Quinn, who disappeared on February 5th, 2005 after a bad breakup with his girlfriend, was 31-years-old at the time. Deputies say Quinn lived in Nash County for most of his life, but moved to Cape Carteret a year before he disappeared.

Quinn's mother, Emily King, says finding his body brings closure, but also has her re-living when he went missing. "You know it's like it just happened. Part of you there's a relief because you know you've got closure, but a part of you, you were hoping that closure was going to be good news not bad news."

Deputies say Quinn made a cell phone call back in February of 2005 to his girlfriend telling her he was going to drive his car into the water.

The sheriff's office is still awaiting positive I.D. from the medical examiner's office.
