Authorities believe they found Tuesday morning the body of a man missing for 4-1/2 years.

Carteret County deputies say a body was found in the Jeep Cherokee that was submerged in Gallants Channel, near Piver's Island.

They believe the body is that of George Quinn, who disappeared on February 5, 2005 after a bad breakup with his girlfriend. That SUV was the same vehicle Quinn was last seen driving.

Quinn was 31-years-old at the time he disappeared. Deputies say Quinn lived in Nash County for most of his life, but moved to Cape Carteret a year before he disappeared.

The vehicle was discovered Monday night by a recreational diver. Sonar equipment from Atlantic Beach and the Sheriff's Office dive team were used in the recovery.

To the grieivng family: I cannot describe how painful for you it must be right now. But even more painful that you did not know where your love one was for the last five years. I pray that this will bring closure to a long awaited situation. May God continue to bless and keep you strong.
