An unemployed Wilson County man and his wife are $1 million richer, after making a big win in the North Carolina Education Lottery.

Ricky and Regina Whitaker of Stantonsburg bought the lucky ticket on Tuesday, the first day of the new "$200 Million Extravaganza" game. They bought the $20 ticket at the Stantonsburg Friendly Mart on Moyton Drive.

The million dollar ticket was actually the couple's second winning ticket. Their first ticket won them $25 so they decided to use their winnings and try their luck again.

The couple will receive 20 annual payments of $50,000, less taxes. They've already received their first check of $34,006.40.

Congrats!!! Glad to hear U R going to put some of your kids thru college! After taxes, if it is doled out in increments like they said, they will have approx $2,500 to $3,000. per month. If he has no job now and can't find one, that's not a lot of money folks. Let's be happy that they can keep a roof over their heads and the lights on!! It's the best $20.00 investment I have ever heard of!! By the way, what's the difference in them bying a lottery ticket than people that R unemployed and (as U stated) "living off the gov" smoking, drinking and bying junk food to munch on. Don't throw stones if ya live ina glass house. U may find yourself in the same situation one day. I'm just sayin'!!
