Authorities in Winston-Salem say a 3-year-old boy was found dead after firefighters controlled a fire in a house where 10 people were living.
David Peay, a battalion chief with the Winston-Salem Fire Department, says it took fire crews about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
No one else was injured.
Peay says the house was nearly destroyed, and investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
The boy, whose named wasn't immediately released, was found inside on the main floor.
